Hi, I’m Max, a reformed brownie addict and recovering fitness fanatic. I have been working in Health and Wellness for 14 years, building and inspiring healing paths for people of all ages. But it wasn't always like that.
Growing up in New York, I had to learn how to move fast, talk quickly and hustle in a constant state of high-stress. I was a lone latch-key kid from Yonkers, living in a single-parent household steeped in generational trauma. I had to witness poverty and states of emotional unsafety in the neighborhood from a very young age and didn't have much to inspire a life of abundance and wellness around me. (But my cosmetologist mom did a wonderful job of keeping me and my hair growing in the right direction.)
I was fast becoming a product of my fast environment. My CNS and glandular system was completely unregulated, over stimulated and abused. I sought comfort in fast food, fast money and fast friends and became overweight and in a constant state of fight or flight.
After getting into some trouble in my late teens and serving three years in prison, I came out wanting to be a better version of myself, for myself and my daughter who was born while I was away. I was tired of telling myself it was ok, that I was ok when I knew none of it was and no-one was coming to help me. I started to notice how I was normalizing and storing trauma in my own system and wanted to find a way to explore the emotional dysregulation associated with negative physical and psychological health.
I decided to take my health and lifestyle into my own hands by shifting my mind, body and being towards wellness. This led me into a paradigm shift that resulted in me losing almost a hundred pounds and completely turning my life around over a decade ago. I knew there was a connection between the generational and environmental trauma I was seeing play out all around me and the lack of education regarding the effects of chronic stress and the CNS. I made it my mission to learn how to intervene and reduce the health disparity for people like me and now share what I have learned with the world.
I also recently chose to enhance my physical environment by moving to Costa rica. Exchanging the concrete jungle with the natural jungle, and it has allowed for a healthier and wider sense of wellness for me.
While here I have cultivated an integrative method that utilizes the most effective and impactful practices that target the underlying issues of your specific stress patterns to unlock true relief. Shifting your wellness perspective from Central Nervous System to Centered Natural Setting. The S.P.A Method is my unique and integrated way of working with a variety of modalities, which include kinesthetic body movement, somatic and cognitive practices and integrated manual therapy techniques.
Everyone experiences stress to some degree. The way you respond to stress, however, makes a big difference to your overall well-being. I work with people who are wanting to relieve and dissolve the stress caused by any type of change that causes their CNS to experience physical, emotional, or psychological dis-ease.
It's my dream to support you in the translation of your bodies in the present now moment, by sharing with you the tools I have learned, mastered and am still learning in this Life. Being a clear mirror for you to see through is how I can best show up and it's something I can hope to reflect.
